Symptoms and treatment

Acute inflammation of the kidney

Dull pressure pain and tension of muscles in the lumbar regions with high temperature, shivering and total exhaustion - all this indicates the acute kidney infection (acute pyelonephritis). The inflammation can be unilateral, the urine can be turbid, sometimes with traces of blood. Often there is burning or sharp pain during urination, more frequent urge to urinate.

Antibiotic therapy lasts minimally 2 weeks. An integral part of the therapy is a regimen of rest during antibiotic administration and another week minimally after negative cultivation finding in urine.

For diet we recommend nonirritant varied food with sufficient intake of liquids. Teas are selected carefully (herbal teas with a strong diuretic effect are discouraged), suitable choice are soothing or moderately anti-inflammatory teas. In the acute stage we do not recommend alcohol, coffee and strong black tea. The disease represents a contraindication for balneal care.

Acute inflamation of the bladder

Acute inflammation of the urinary bladder (cystitis) in men manifests itself by an urgent need to urinate, turbid urine and burning pain during urination.

Besides antibiotic therapy, a regimen of rest, stay in the warmth and drinking regimen for 7-10 days are necessary. For the drinking regimen we recommend namely water, soothing herbal teas (chamomile, agrimony, rose hip, lemon balm, marigold). Herbal teas with diuretic effects are rather irritant (e.g. urologic tea) and are therefore unsuitable. Also drinking of large quantities of black tea, coffee and alcoholic beverages is discouraged.

In the diet we do not recommend excessively salted and spiced food. It is necessary to avoid chilling and exposure to varying temperatures (sauna, hot baths with following stay in a cold room). Stay in regular dry warmth is rather more suitable.

Acute inflammation of the urethra

During inflammation of the urethra (urethritis) in men, discharge from the urethra of varying character, from glassy through whitish to yellow-pyogenic, and intensity is a usual symptom. The discharge is usually accompanied with burning in the urethra, sometimes with pain in the lower abdomen.

Antibiotic therapy is indicated. The regimen should include stay in the warmth, drinking regime, banned sexual intercourse, anti-inflammatory herbal teas.

Acute inflammation of the prostate

The acute inflammation of the prostate (acute prostatitis) is dominated by pain in the prostate, sometimes accompanied with discharge from the urethra, difficult urination, temperature above 38°C and total exhaustion.

The therapy is based on antibiotics (minimum 4 weeks) and regimen measures.

Neglect of moderate acute inflammations or uncompleted therapy form the best basis for the occurrence of chronic prostate inflammation.

Protracted sitting, traveling in a sitting position, tight underwear, consuming large quantities of alcohol and spicy food, brings unfavourable effects.

After acute prostatitis the patient can also be offered, in indicated cases, balneal termination of therapy.

Acute inflammation of testis

Acute inflammation of testis (orchitis) is a very painful, suddenly occurring disease and is accompanied with high temperature, increased volume of the afflicted half of the scrotum and reddening of skin in the afflicted area.

The therapy is based on antibiotics and regimen measures. If the therapy is not completed, most often after rapid regression of pain, local oedema, reddening, and temperature, the disease often recurs and transforms into a chronic state.

Serious and complicated inflammation can hamper sperm formation in the afflicted testis and thus threaten the fertility of the patient.

Acute inflammation of the prepuce

Acute inflammation of the prepuce (balanopostitis) is usually connected with its constriction. Patients are often afflicted by pyogenic discharge from the preputial sac, oedema of the prepuce or even of penis, burning during urination, sometimes difficult urination.

We perform washings of the sac (chamomile, agrimony, boric acid, solution of permanganate, weak solution of peroxide). After regression of the acute state, the cause of the disease must be removed, i.e. it is necessary to perform circumcision.
